This Alabama white sauce is a mayonnaise-and-vinegar-based barbecue sauce with Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, hot sauce, celery seed, thyme, and black pepper. It is a simple white barbecue sauce for smoked turkey, chicken, pork, or ribs.
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined or until the sugar has dissolved.
Add to a container, cover and chill until needed. While this sauce can be eaten right away, letting the flavors develop covered in the refrigerator for an hour or two is best. This sauce will stay fresh for about a week in the refrigerator.
NOTES
Whisk until fully smooth. Make sure the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is completely blended before you chill it.
Let it chill first. You can use it right away, but the post says it is better after 1 to 2 hours in the refrigerator once the flavors settle in.
Use it on smoked meats. The post specifically recommends it for smoked or grilled chicken, turkey, pork, and ribs.
Swap the sweetener if needed. The post notes you can replace the sugar with maple syrup, sorghum, honey, or agave nectar.
Store it refrigerated. Keep it covered in the refrigerator for about 1 week.
